Oostburg Wedding

This weekend was fun. On Friday we drove down to Chicago. Saturday morning we got up bright and early to drive up to Wisconsin. We went to Oostburg to attend the wedding of Melissa’s cousin Kelly and her husband Jason. After the wedding we made the traditional stop to the Gibbsville Cheese Factory to pick up some of the best cheese money can buy. Then it was off to the reception. The reception was held at a big, beautiful resort. Unfortunately we left the camera at home and couldn’t take pictures of the event. One of the more memorable moments was when Kelly’s younger sister Kristen gave the maid of honor’s speech. Kristen is very uninhibited, and her speech was a perfect reflection of her personality. After the speeches we watched the video of how Jason proposed to Kelly. It was pretty cool, he proposed while they were sky-diving.

Sunday we hung out with Melissa’s parents, and finally headed home. The drive home was quite treacherous. The lake effect snow coming down around St. Joseph was so thick that we could hardly see. Long stretches of highway were completely covered in snow, and we couldn’t easily identify where the lanes were. Other stretches appeared to be covered in ice. Thankfully we were driving the 4-wheel-drive CRV and made it home safely, which is more than I can say for some of the poor souls we saw stuck in the ditch. Nothing like an arctic blast across the mid-west to get us primed for the sunny beaches of Phuket, Thailand.
